Pakistan election campaign ends, country to cast votes tomorrow

Campaigning for Pakistan's general elections has come to an end as the nation prepares to vote on Wednesday.

The eminent contestants and leaders contesting the elections include PML-N Chief Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan and Pakistan People's Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The nearly two month long campaign was  overtly seen as modest but has unfortunately claimed nearly 180 lives, including three candidates due to the frequent attacks on political rallies.

Meanwhile, international Baloch activists such as Naela Quadri Baloch,  Hyrbyair Marri, and Munir Mengal among others have urged people of the persecuted region to boycott the elections.

Hyrbyair Marri added that only international military intervention can stop the genocide of the population of Balochistan. Munir Mengal has accused the Pakistan Army of tailoring the elections and the judiciary, Inter-Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence, and Election Commission of Pakistan of helping them

As per the country's Election Commission, over 12,570 candidates are contesting the elections to 849 seats of the Parliament and four provincial assemblies. Around 4,50,000 policemen have been deployed along with 3,00,000 army personnel on polling day.
