The head of Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan, Abu Saad Erhabi, has been killed in an air strike on the terror group's hideouts in Nangarhar province.

National Directorate of Security said in Kabul that ten other members of the terror group were also killed in a joint ground and air operation by Afghan and foreign forces on Saturday night.

The Directorate also informed that a large amount of heavy and light weapons and ammunition were destroyed during raids on two Islamic State hideouts.

Hours before the raid, the group claimed responsibility for a deadly suicide attack which targeted a sit-in protest outside election commission office in the city of Jalalabad that killed two people.
