The G-20 Summit,with the theme- Human-centred future society, has begun in Japan's Osaka today.
Leaders of several nations including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have come together to take part in the two-day summit.
At the same time, 19 countries, the European Union and several special invitees are also taking part at the Summit. Key issues such as Global Economy- Trade and Investment, Innovation in Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence, Addressing Inequalities, Realizing an Inclusive and Sustainable World and Climate Change Energy and Environment in four different sessions will be discussed at the meet.
Ahead the formal beginning of the summit, Modi held a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a bilateral meet with Trump.
In a second trilateral talks today, the PM will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The impetus for the current G-20 summit was the global financial meltdown in 2008 when the leaders gathered to discuss how to prevent a similar crisis from happening again.
The G-20 summit 2020 is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia and the Osaka summit is expected to set the tone for next year's discussions.
