Insurgents from ethnic minorities in Myanmar have attacked five locations in the east of the country killing 15 people on Thursday. According to reports, four police officers are also missing. The targets included a military academy.
A coalition of armed groups demanding greater autonomy has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
As per a statement issued by the coalition, the groups launched the attacks as Myanmar's military and police had been stepping up offensive operations and crackdowns in areas where the minorities live.
The attackers destroyed equipment used to impede trafficking of illegal drugs, said the military.
