On the very first day of the new national security law of China coming into effect, Hong Kong saw around 370 arrests. The Hong Kong Police made the arrests under the new law.
The new law, which ironically came into effect the same day Hong Kong was returned by the United Kingdom to China under the condition that the place would enjoy a certain degree of autonomy, has reportedly generated a sense of fear among the people of Hong Kong.
Thousands had taken the streets on Wednesday to demonstrate against the new security law that primarily aims to curb political dissent in Hong Kong.
