WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for its groups that will allow the users to do a one-way broadcast to their contacts.
The new feature has reportedly been borrowed from Telegram, an encrypted messaging platform. The broadcast feature will make it easier for the one-to-many relay of information.
"Today, we're launching a new group setting where only admins are able to send messages to a group. One way people use groups is to receive important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at schools, community centres, and non-profit organisations," WhatsApp wrote in a short blog post.
To enable this new feature, users have to open "Group Info," and select "Only Admins".
Reportedly, WhatsApp has over 1.5 billion active users.
