India has secured its berth in the Women's Hockey World Cup quarter finals by beating the Italian team 3-0 in London on Tuesday.
In the play-offs held at Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre in London, the Indian team displayed a stellar performance and eased past Italy in a match that clearly announced the superiority of the national team.
India's goal came in the 9th minute through a field strike from Lalremsiami. Two penalty goals- from Neha Goyal at the 45th minute and Vandana Katariya in the 55th minute- helped cement the lead further.
The Indian team will now face Ireland on Thursday. Ireland has previously defeated them in the group stages of the tournament.
The semi-finals of the Women's Hockey World Cup will be played on Saturday, with the Final slated for Sunday.
