Indianall-rounder Vijay Shankar was ruled out of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup onMonday due to a toe injury. Shankar is likely to be replaced by Karnatakaopener Mayank Agarwal.
"VijayShankar once again got hit on the toe by a Jasprit Bumrah delivery. His situationis not great and he won't be able to take part in the tournament. He is goingback home," a BCCI official quoted as saying by PTI.
Themanagement of team India asked for Mayank Agarwal as replacement. "He is anopener and also it might give KL Rahul a chance to get back to the No.4position in case Rishabh Pant fails in the next two games," the BCCI officialsadded.
Itmay be mentioned here that Mayank Agarwal had made Test debut against Australialast year but has not yet played in the ODI format. However, the ICC'stournament technical committee has to approve Agarwal's name.
Indialost their previous match to England by 31 runs in Birmingham on Sunday andwill take on Bangladesh at the same venue on Tuesday.
