Real Madrid bags 13th Champions League title

Real Madrid won the finals of Champions League 3-1 to claim their third successive and 13th Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) title at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex on Saturday.

Liverpool's hopes were left in doubt after a devastating injury to Mohammad Salah, when he got tangled up with Madrid's defender Sergio Ramos.

Madrid scored their first goal when Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius threw the ball directly onto the foot of Madrid's Karim Benzema, who redirected it in. However, the highlight of the match is undoubtedly Gareth Bale's bicycle kick.

Interestingly, Bale was benched by manager Zinedine Zidane, and was introduced into the game in the 61st minute, when the scores were leveled at 1-1.

It may be mentioned here that this victory was Madrid's third in a row in the tournament, a feat that was earlier achieved by Bayern Munich when the team won three consecutive European Cups from 1974-1976.
