Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 begins today

The 14th edition of  Men's Hockey World Cup 2018 is all set to begin in Bhubaneswar later today followed by the inaugural ceremony.

This is the third time in India and the first time in Bhubaneswar that the prestigious tournament  is going to be held from 28th November to 16th December.

Eight groups of classical dancers  will perform the dance on the inaugural stage in Kalinga Stadium. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the ceremony with renowned personalities such as Madhuri Dixit,  Shahrukh Khan and AR Rahman as the main attractions.

On the event of Men's Hockey World Cup Tournament inaugural function, today the Odisha Government has declared a holiday for educational institutions in the Bhubaneswar.

All educational and financial institutions in the state will remain closed after 1.30 pm today. Hockey fever has completely gripped the Capital city. All the preparations for the match have been completed. Kalinga Stadium has been decked up with light and flower plants. The Odisha Government has spent nearly 100 crore rupees for renewing and infrastructure.
