Indian batsmen fail again in English conditions; suffers humiliating innings defeat in Lord’s test
Updated on

India faced one of the most humiliating defeat of recent times as they were bowled out for a mere score 130 all in the second innings of the Lord's test match to give England a easy win and take a 2-0 lead in the 5-match series.

When the match was halted due to rain with India's score at 66/6, it was only matter of time before India surrendered the match.

However, Hardik Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin show some resilience and took India's score past the 100 run mark with scores of 23 and 35 respectively.

But that wasn't enough to save team India the humiliation as India handed an innings and 159 runs defeat to a well balanced English side.

This is the 4th innings in a row in two matches where India meekly surrendered and exposed how much they were ill prepared for English condition.

This morning resuming at 357 for 6, England added 39 run and declared the innings at 396 leaving India to score 289 to avoid innings defeat. Chris Wokes remained not out at 137.

On day 4, James Anderson and Stuart Board rattled the Indian batting line up with superb showcase of pace, control and swing bowling. Each of them picked up 4 wickets each in the second innings of the Lord's test.

James Anderson, who took 5 wickets in India's first innings, ended the match with a nine wicket haul.

Scores in Brief :

First innings: India 107, England 396/7 declared.

Second innings : India 130
