India wins ODI series 3-1 against Windies

India clinched a massive victory against West Indies by 9 wickets in the 5th and the final ODI and won the 5 match series 3-1 on Thursday  in Thiruvananthapuram. Opener Rohit Sharma hit a brilliant 63 of 56 balls, Kohli scored 33 of 29 balls.

Ravindra Jadega won the man of the match for his brilliant 4 wickets haul. Rohit Sharma was awarded the man of the series award while Virat Kohli finished as the highest run scorer with 453 in the series.

Earlier, riding on a four-wicket haul from left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja , India bundled out the Windies for a paltry 104 in the fifth and final One Day International (ODI) in Thiruvananthapuram. The visitors suffered a terrible batting collapse as Jadeja ripped through the Windies batting line-up in the final match of the series with 104 runs, their lowest against India.

After winning the toss, Windies elected to bat but the decision went horribly wrong for the team. The visitors managed to score a mere 104 runs.Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck in the first over of the match dismissing Kieran Powell for nought. Jasprit Bumrah, in the second over of the innings removed Shai Hope (0) putting the visitors under pressure.

Jadeja, then came on and clinched wickets of Marlon Samuels (24) and Shimron Hetmyer (9) reducing the Windies to 53 for four. Skipper Jason Holder (25) tried to steady the Windies' ship but Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav picked wickets at regular intervals, not allowing the Windies to make a comeback in the match. Jadeja, then wrapped up the tail-enders bundling the Windies out in 31.5 overs. For India, Jadeja was the most impressive bowler ending with figures of 4-34.

Jasprit Bumrah (2-11) and Khaleel Ahmed (2-29) picked up two wickets each while Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1-11) and Kuldeep Yadav (1-18) bagged a wicket apiece.

Kuldeep Yadav became the highest wicket taker in the series with 9.

The Men in Blue had won the first ODI by 8 wickets before the second match ended in a thrilling tie.
The Windies had clinched the third game by 43 runs. Team India again took the lead with a 224-run victory in the fourth one dayer. After the ODI series, both countries will play three Twenty-20 matches. The first T-20 will be played in Kolkata on Sunday, followed by Lucknow on the 6th and Chennai on the 11th of this month.
