India dismantles WI again to sweep series 2-0

India once again showcased their dominance in world cricket and especially in the subcontinent as they routed West Indies (WI) by 10 wickets to hand the visitors another defeat within three days of a test match in the 2nd test at Hyderabad today.

India whitewashed the series 2-0 to register their 10th straight Test series win on home soil.

Umesh Yadav's maiden 10-wicket haul (6/88 and 4/45) on a decent track was the highlight as India reached the meager victory target of 72 in 16.1 overs, courtesy unbeaten partnership between openers Prithvi Shaw (33) and KL Rahul (33).

West Indies were back to their worst despite showing signs of fight in the first innings as they couldn't last two full sessions and were bowled out for 127 in only 46.1 in their second innings.

Earlier, India started the day on their overnight total of 308/4 only to see Rishabh Pant missing yet another hundred in test cricket as he gave away his wicket for the same score of 92 as in the first innings of the first test. He added just 7 runs to his overnight score. Rahane too could not add much and was out for 80.

Hopes were high on the Windies as they bundled out India for 367 with a meager lead of 56. Captain Jason Holder led from the front with figures of 5/56. But early signs of inexperience were evident in the visitor's batting line up as they put up another mediocre performance with the bat in the second innings to give away the match to India.

Umesh Yadav for his 10 wicket in the haul was adjudged the 'Man of the Match' while youngster Prithvi Shaw collected his first 'Man of the Series' award for his superb batting performance in the three innings.

The onus now shifts to limited over cricket as the teams now travel to the northeastern part of India. India takes on WI in the first match of the five match series in Guwahati, Assam on October 21.
