Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has been testedpositive for COVID-19. Afridi said he had been feeling unwell since Thursdayand had a constant body ache following which he decided to get tested.
"I've been feeling unwell since Thursday; my bodyhad been aching badly. I've been tested and unfortunately, I'm covid positive.Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah (sic)," Afridi said in asocial media message on Saturday.
Shahid Afridi played 27 Tests, 398 ODIs and 99 T20Internationals for Pakistan from 1998 to 2018.
Pakistan has been among the worst-hit countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 130,000 people have been tested positive for Covid-19 and the virus has led to more than 2,500 deaths in the country as of June 13.
Notably, Afridi is not the first Pakistan cricketer tocontract the virus. Former Pakistan opener Taufiq Umar had tested positive forCovid-19 in May.
Former Pakistan first-class cricketer, Zafar Sarfarazalso tested positive in April. Sarfaraz, however, was not able to recover as hedied due to the virus.
