FIFA World Cup 2018 update | THE FINAL SHOWDOWN

The summit clash of the FIFA World Cup between France and Croatia will take place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow today. The match will kick off at 8:30 PM (IST).

While Croatia will be aiming to win their first major international trophy, France will attempt to secure their second World Cup.

Croatia is appearing in the World Cup final for the first time- a rare fresh face in the tournament normally dominated by certain superpowers. Only 13 different teams have reached a World Cup final and only seven won it so far.

The French had won the title for the first time 20 years ago in Paris. Both teams had met each other in the semi-final stage of that World Cup, with France winning that game, 2-1.

France does have their own deadly weapons, with teenager Kylian Mbappe arguably the most exciting talent in the tournament and a player to watch out in the final.

On Saturday, Belgium defeated England, 2-0 at Saint Petersburg to finish third, their best World Cup finish till date. Thomas Meunier gave Belgians the lead in the fourth minute, before Eden Hazard sealed the victory with a 82nd minute strike.
