The quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup 2018 concluded on Saturday as England and Croatia defeated their opponents to proceed to the semi finals.
In the match between England and Sweden, the former triumphed over the latter as the match ended 2-0, ensuring the English team's spot at the semi-finals. Harry Maguire scored a goal for the English team in the 30th minute of the game and Dele Alli scored one in the 58th minute.
Sweden, despite several attempts, failed to score.
In the 11:30 pm match in Sochi, the Croatian team managed to cast the Russians out of the tournament as they won in the penalty shootout. Both teams had scored one goal each at the 90 minute mark; during the extra thirty minutes, both the teams managed to score one more goal.
The first goal of the match was scored by Denis Cheryshev from the host team at the 31st minute, with Andrej Kramarić from the Croatian team following closely. As Domagoj Vida and Mario Figueira Fernandes scored goals for their teams at the 100th and 115th minute respectively, the decision had to be settled through penalties.
Ivan Rakitic had the winning kick as he ended Russia's steady stride in the tournament.
