In European Club football action, English football Club Chelsea finally laid their hands on silverware this season following a 1-0 win over rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup Final on Sunday at the Wembley Stadium.
Jose Mourinho's Manchester United started as the favorite in this one but the crucial moment of the final came in a lukewarm first half as Eden Hazard made a brilliant surge for the Blues into the United penalty area and was crudely brought down by England defender Phil Jones. Chelsea gleefully accepted the foul and the 22nd minute successful penalty kick from Hazard meant curtains for the Red Devils' hopes of further silverware this season.
The goal from Hazard turned out to be the vital blow for United as a strong defence by the Blues and sloppy finishing led to Chelsea lifting their eight FA Cup title.
For Chelsea's Italian manager Antonio Conte, who had earlier tasted premier league success with the Blues lifting the trophy last season, had been a really rough ride this season and his future at the club being questioned.
With his team now out of contention for next year's Champions league and the elimination from the European championship the side suffered versus Barcelona, there weren't too many positives to count upon.
