India had a bright day at the Asian games on the day 06 as it had bagged its seventh Gold. Tajinderpal Singh clinched the Gold in men's Shot-Put event creating an Asian Games record of covering a distance of 20.75 meters. In Squash, Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa settled for Bronze Medals after losing in women's singles semifinals. Saurabh Ghoshal also settled for a Bronze as he also lost in the Men's singles semifinals.

India's golden girl Hima Das qualifying for the 400m final broke a 14-year-old national record with a timing of 51.00s on Saturday. Nirmala Sheoran also qualified for the 400m final was , who stood fourth overall with a timing of 54.09s. It was the best effort in Heat 3.

Muhammed Anas and Rajiv Arokia qualified for the men's 400m semi-finals. Anas topped heat 1 while Rajiv finished second in heat 4. In women's 100 meters Duti chand has qualified for semifinals. She topped the heat with 11.38 seconds. High -jumper Chethan Subramanya also qualified for the men's high-jump final. He finished fifth in Group B.

In Badminton, Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu have reached women's singles quarter-final. Saina Nehwal beat Indonesia's Fitriani Fitriani 21-6, 21-14. PV Sindhu defeated Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia 21-12, 21-15 . However, in Men's Doubles , India lost to South Korea. In handball, India women's team beat Korea 54-19 in 9th and 10th classification match. In Volleyball Pool F match, India beat Maldives in straight sets 25-12, 25-21, 25-17. Indian boxer Pavitra (60kg) advanced to the quarterfinals after out-classing Pakistan's Rukhsana Perveen.

However, shooters Anish Bhanwala and Shivam Shukla failed to qualify for the men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol final as they finished 9th and 11th respectively. In Archery, India's Recurve campaign ended on Saturday as both men and women's teams lost their quarter-final matches.

In Sepak Takraw also, India lost to South Korea in Men's Regu Preliminary group B match. Vikas Thakur failed to grab a medal for India in Weightlifting and finished with a total lift of 335 kgs.

India is currently placed 8th in the tally with 29 medals comprising 7 gold, 5 silver and 17 bronze. China continues to top the tally with 143 medals followed by Japan with a tally of 107 medals.
