Asian Games Update : Day 5 Review

On day 5 of the ongoing Asian Games 2018 Shardul Vihan won silver in Men's Double Trap on Thursday becoming India's youngest player to win a medal in shooting at Asian Games. Vivan said after the win, "Sir (coach Mansher Singh) ne bola, kal sab tere se badi umar ke honge. Chad ke khelna (all competitors will be a lot older to you, just shoot fearless and they will be wary of you). I just did that,"

Ankita Raina won the first medal for India on Day 5 as she lost to 4-6, 7-6 against China's Zhang Shuai.

Indian players performed well in tennis ,squash and badminton. Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan notched their way to the men's doubles final's keeping India's gold hope alive.

India ended the day with four gold, four silver and 10 bronze for a total of 18 medals. India slipped to 10th in the medal table with just three medals on day 5 with no gold in the medal tally.

However in kabbadi , India was defeated by Iran to settle for bronze. This is India's worst performance in the last 28 years of Asian Games.

Ram Mehar Singh, Indian Kabbadi team coach said after the defeat, "We lost the match due to the captain's over confidence, injury played a part, and super tackle,"

On the other hand former world number one archer Deepika Kumari  flopped yet again at the big stage on a depressing day whose challenge ended at the Games.

India failed to perform in rowing  and weightlifting as well
