One of cricket's best batsmen and former South African Captain AB de Villiers has retired from all forms of international cricket with immediate effect. The middle order batsman announced his retirement on Twitter through a video. (Watch the video here).
In the video, he was seen saying that he was 'tired' and 'running out of gas'. De Villiers, however, said that it was an extremely tough decision for him to make, and he believes that it is the right time for other talented players to take over.
De Villiers debuting for South Africa in December 2004 appeared in 114 Test matches scoring 8765 runs at an average of 50.66. He has scored 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries in cricket's longest format.
Sachin Tendulkar through twitter bid him adieu saying, "Like your on-field game, may you have 360 degree success off the field as well. You will definitely be missed. My best wishes to you!"
