Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gave a courtesy visit to Sadin-Pratidin house owner Jayanta Baruah's residence on Friday. The Defence Minister was accompanied by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary.
Visiting the house of Jayanta Baruah, Rajnath Singh said that it is his courtesy visit. "We have a very friendly relation and due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have not paid any visit to one other's residence since long and as I came to Assam I thought of visiting Baruah's house once. We talked over phone but as cannot paid a visit due to the pandemic," Singh said.
Talking about the COVID-19 situation in the state, the Defence Minister said that there is nothing to worry about the pandemic as Himanta Biswa Sarma who is a dynamic chief minister is handling the situation very effectively.
The Defence Minister also visited Maa Kamakhya Temple today morning and thereafter visited Sadin-Pratidin house owner's residence at Zoo Road in Guwahati. He will then visit the DRDO Covid hospital in Sarusajai.
Speaking to Pratidin Time, Jayanta Baruah said that the Defence Minister has visited him as a courtesy visit as they maintain a friendly relation since he served as the Union Home Minister. "We have a good relation since he visited the Achievers' Award during his tenure as the Union Home Minister. Today, he visited our house as he is in Assam for a two-day visit," said Baruah.
Rajnath Singh also inaugurated 12 roads built by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in the northern and eastern border areas in Lakhimpur district.
