Not all Naga-inhabited areas of Northeast India to be included in Nagalim, clears Centre

At a time when the peace talks between the Centre and NSCN (IM) is coming towards a fruitful end, the centre has disapproved NSCN (IM)'s demand to integrate all Naga-inhabited areas of Northeast India into Nagalim.

NSCN (IM) had demanded the integration of all Naga-inhabited areas of northeast into Nagalim, including those in Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

As per reports published in 'The Week', the Centre has also turned down from granting financial autonomy to the proposed state of Nagalim.

It may be mentioned here that a "framework agreement" was signed between the Centre and the NSCN-IM in 2015; the final accord is scheduled to be signed towards the end of this year. NSCN (U), NSCN (KK), NSCN (R), NSCN NNPG) and NSCN (KN) have also come forward for the peace talks in 2017. NSCN (Khaplang) has, however, kept its distance from the peace talks.

Alezo Venuh, representative of the union of different factions of the NSCN, informed that the centre has disapproved of integrating Naga-inhabited areas into Nagalim. Venuh, however, restrained from making further comments, saying that the issue is crucial.
