Updated on

At a time when Assam is burning with the issue of Citizenship Amendment Bill, the third conclave of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) concluded in Guwahati on May 20.

Keeping aside the issue of Citizenship Amedment Bill, the BJP discussed the road map for  the 2019 elections. The conclave was organised at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, where BJP President Amit Shah was present along with the chief ministers of six northeastern states.

Addressing the conclave, Amit Shah said "NEDA is not just a political platform. Its motive is the overall development of North East India."

Shah also said that Northeast India shall soon be Congress free.

It may be mentioned here that, on Sunday, protesters lined the streets of Guwahati carrying black flags and shouting slogans against BJP and the Citizenship Amendment Bill. AGP too took a stand against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
