A teenage girl from Unnao, who charged BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Sengar with rape allegations last year, travelling with her family met with an accident in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli on Sunday. As per reports, the car in which the girl was travelling collided with a truck, injuring the teenager and her lawyer and leaving her two aunts dead.
As per reports, the accident occurred around 1 pm when it was raining heavily. The family was on its way to the district jail in Rae Bareli to meet the girl's uncle, who is serving a life term in a different case. The truck, which collided with the car, had its number plate painted black.
However, the driver and owner of the truck have been arrested.
According to a NDTV report, senior police officer Rajiv Krishna said that two women were injured and two have died in the accident. A forensic investigation of the truck and the number plates would be conducted.
Speaking on the rape survivor's security, police officer MP Verma said that security was provided to the survivor and family after the rape incident, who used to trail the survivor everywhere.
However, the security was not there with them on the ill-fated day as they refused it. Still, a probe has been ordered as to why the designated security did not accompany them, added the police officer.
The girl has alleged that she was raped by the accused, Kuldeep Sengar, when she went to his Unnao home with a relative, seeking job. Sengar has been in prison for a year now for the aforementioned crime.
It may be noted that the girl and her mother, attempted self-immolation outside the house of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 08, seeking justice.
