The fire sparked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's controversial remark on former PM Rajiv Gandhi had been hardly put out when the PM made another remark saying Rajiv Gandhi and family were sent for a vacation on board the Navy's INS Virat, compromising national security.
Addressing a rally in Delhi on Wednesday, Modi alleged that the ship was positioned for protection of maritime boundaries, when it was sent to transport Rajiv Gandhi and his family to an island for their holiday.
The PM went on to claim that his in-laws were also onboard the INS Virat.
Accusing Congress of compromising national security, the Prime Minister said that Navy personnel were also not spared as they were put on service of Rajiv Gandhi and his family while they were vacationing at the island with the INS Virat stationed at the island for 10 days during that time.
Citing the matter, the PM taking to Twitter shared a news story by India Today from 1988.
