In a major development, the Chinese PLA has accused the Indian Army of firing warning shots on the south bank of the Pangong Tso Lake on Monday night.

However, the Ministry of Defence or The Indian Army has not responded to the Chinese claims yet.

As reported by The Indian Express, Colonel Zhang Shuili, spokesperson for the PLA Western Theatre Command, asserted in a statement that the Indian Army "crossed the line and entered Bangong Hunan, the western section of the Sino-Indian border."

He added that the Indian actions stood in violation of the "relevant agreements and agreements between China and India, pushing up regional tensions, and easily causing misunderstandings and misjudgments."

The Colonel also urged the Indian side to immediately stop such "dangerous" actions.

Labeling the development as "serious military provocations", he said that the Indian Army should "immediately stop dangerous actions, immediately withdraw cross-line personnel, strictly restrain front-line troops, and strictly investigate and punish personnel who fired shots to ensure that similar incidents do not occur again."

Incidentally, the Indian Army, in a major feat, had recently occupied strategic heights on the south bank of Pangong Tso and Rechin La near Rezang La. This would give the Indian Army a panoramic and commanding view of the Chushul sector, besides helping it keep a watch on China's Moldo garrison and prevent any attempt to ingress via the Spanggur Gap.

The Indo-China border situation in Eastern Ladakh along the LAC is on boil, as suggested by the Army chief General MM Naravane on September 4.
