Nitish Kumar refuses spot in Modi cabinet

As PM Modi and his cabinet of ministers took oath on Thursday, BJP ally JD (U) had no representation in it, as party leader Nitish Kumar had refused to join the Narendra Modi-led government.

BJP wanted only one person from JDU in the cabinet whichwould only mean a symbolic participation of the party, said JDU President andBihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while speaking to the media.

However, he assured that it was not a matter of concern andthat his party is still in support of NDA.

It may be noted that JD(U) is the third largest party, with16 MPs, in the NDA while BJP and Shiv Sena remains the first and the secondrespectively.
