On the third death anniversary of the Missile Man of India, people of the nation took to social media to celebrate the life of the 11th President of India.
Before becoming the nation's President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was the man behind our nation's missile program. He also played a crucial role in the 1998 Pokhran-II nuclear tests and was also associated with India's space program and missile development program.
In honour of the former President and Bharat Ratna recipient, the Abdul Kalam Vision Society (AKVS) has been set up in Singapore to advance his vision by organising lectures, events and essay writing competitions.
On Friday, the Twitterati paid homage to the President of the people. Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah tweeted, "I bow to the Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his Punyatithi. He has ignited millions of minds with his teachings & thoughts. In him, India has seen the rarest combination of science, education & humanity. To be a learner at every walk of life is what Dr. Kalam has taught us."
The Vice President of India also tweeted through his official Twitter handle, "My tributes to Bharata Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his Punyathithi. He was a great son of our soil who from humble background rose to dizzying heights and became the President through hard work & perseverance. #APJAbdulKalam"
While delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had collapsed and died of an apparent cardiac arrest on July 27, 2015.
