The MumbaiPolice today told a court that there is no evidence against actor Nana Patekarto prosecute of charges of sexually harassing his co-star Tanushree Dutta.
It was tenyears ago that Tanushree Dutta had accused Nana Patekar of misbehaving with heron the sets of their movie 'Horn OK Pleasss'.
Police todaysaid that they have not found any evidence in their report to support thecomplaint and were unable to continue the investigation.
The allegationsmade by the actress are widely seen to be the start of a #MeToo campaign inIndia, a year after a similar moment gathered pace in the US after severalwomen went public against movie moghul Harvey Weinstein.
After the#MeToo campaign, celebrities, writers and even a senior minister facedallegations posted by women on a Twitter thread in India's version of themovement.
Tanushreehad been out of sight for years before she emerged with the allegations inSeptember last year. In her complaint to police, she said that Nana Patekar hadharassed her and when she complained she was forced to perform intimate dancesteps with the senior actor.
Meanwhile,Patekar had rejected the allegations and also sent a legal notice to his formerco-star and also demanded a written apology.
