On Sunday, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress unveiled four nominees for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election. The party has chosen senior journalist Sagarika Ghose, Sushmita Dev, Md Nadimul Haque, and Mamata Bala Thakur to represent it in the upper house of parliament.

The Trinamool Congress announced on Sunday, "We are pleased to announce the candidature of @sagarikaghose, @SushmitaDevAITC, @MdNadimulHaque6, and Mamata Bala Thakur for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections." They went on to say, "We extend our heartfelt wishes to them and hope they will work towards upholding Trinamool's enduring legacy of indomitable spirit and advocacy for the rights of every Indian."

She is well-known for her significant journalism experience, having worked for almost 30 years.

Ghose studied at St. Stephen's College in New Delhi before receiving a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford University. She has worked in both print and broadcast media, covering a wide range of topics and concerns through her writing and reporting.
