Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on late Friday night as former finance minister Arun Jaitley's condition is critical according to sources. Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS on August 9.
Amit Shah and Harsh Vardhan along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey, BJP working president JP Nadda and Loktantra Janata Dal chief Sharad Yadav had also checked on Jaitley last week.
Jaitley was also once admitted to AIIMS for treatment on Maylast and was admitted for the second time at AIIMS last Friday.
Jaitley, who was a lawyer by profession had been an importantpart in Narendra Modi's cabinet during his first tenure as Prime Minister.Jaitley did not contest the Lok Sabha election in 2019 presumably because ofhis ill-health.
Jaitley had undergone renal transplant on May 14 last year withPiyush Goyal filling in for him in the finance ministry at that time.
In September 2014, he underwent bariatric surgery to correct theweight he had gained because of a long-standing diabetic condition.
