India Plans To Launch Own Space Station

Indian SpaceResearch Organisation (ISRO) Chief K Sivan said on Thursday that India is planningto launch its own space station.

India istargeting 2030 as the date to launch a 20 tonne space station.

Sivan saidthat there will be no collaboration with any other country for this project. Thiswill be an extension of the Gaganyaan Mission.

A budget of Rs. 10,000 crore has already been cleared by the central government for the Gaganyaan mission.

Mr Sivan told media, "Wehave to sustain the Gaganyaan programme after the launch of the human spacemission. In this context, India is planning to have its own space station."

Currently, ISRO's focus ison India's second mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-2, which is an advancedversion of the previous Chandrayaan-1.

Chandrayaan-2 will takeoff on July 15.
