India today gave an emotional farewell to its beloved son Atal Behari Vajpayee as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation, walking by the side of last journey.

Hundreds and thousands came out in the streets of New Delhi while rest of the nation glued to TV sets as spontaneous outpouring of grief, respect and emotion for the leader, who has been considered third greatest Indian after Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.

As the gun carriage with his body rolled out of the BJP state office, the Prime Minister set out on foot, literally stunning everyone as the entire cabinet, BJP top brass including President Amit Shah joined him walking under a hot summer Delhi for 15 kilometers.

It was a sight not to be forgotten as entire BJP top brass and who's who of India along with Assam Chief Minister Sarababnda Sonowal were walking by the side of the Gun Carriage braving weather.

After the formal placing of wrath by the dignities as well as those from SARRC countries, the cremation took place in the Smriti Sthal, by the bank of river Yamuna. The Government has decided to build a memorial on this site as 1.5 acre have been earmarked for this.
