A fresh ban on as many as 43 mobile apps which have linkage with China have been imposed by the Government of India on Tuesday. These apps include popular e-commerce website AliExpress, CamCard, Taobao Live etc.
Three months ago, the government banned popular battle-royale game PUBG Mobile along with 117 other Chinese apps.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in an official statement, said that the government has imposed the ban under the provisions of Section 69A of the Information Technology Action.
"This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order," the statement said.
The ministry further added that the ban was based on "comprehensive reports received from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Home Affairs". No particular details have been however provided by the government as to why these apps were banned.
