Cricketer-turned-politician and the BJP candidate from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday held a roadshow ahead of filing his nomination papers. The 37-year-old, known these days as one of the BJP's big-hitters on Twitter, sat down for an elaborate puja before filing his nomination.
Mr Gambhir has replaced Maheish Girri as the BJP candidate from East Delhi, lining up a clash with Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) star candidate Atishi.. He stated that, taking PM Modi's legacy , he wants to contribute something to the country .
Gambhir had joined the BJP on March 22 in the presence of Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad in New Delhi. Since joining the BJP he has fought pitched battles with Kashmiri politicians Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, former Chief Ministers of the state.
