Ganpati Visarjan Takes Place in Mumbai

Ganesh Utsav, which began on Ganesh Chaturthi ten days ago, culminates on Thursday on Ganesh Visarjan. The festival is widely celebrated in South India especially in Mumbai followed by the rest of India. While many families immerse the Ganesh idols on the 3^rd, 5^th or 7^th day, Anant Chaturdashi, the 11^th day of the festival is the most significant day for Ganesha Visarjan. Anant Chaturdashi is a day to worship Lord Vishnu in his eternal form-Anant.

The Ganesh idols are immersed on this day in a water body asdevotees join the procession amidst chants of Ganapati Bappa Morya and GaneshMaharaj ki Jai. Ganesh Visarjan is also known as Vinayaka Nimajjanam in Teluguspeaking regions.

Ganesh Visarjan Puja Muhurat:

Morning Muhurat (Shubha)- 6:08 am to 7.40 am

Morning Muhurat (Chara, Labha, Amrita)- 10.45 am to 3:22 pm

Afternoon Muhurat (Shubha)- 4.54 pm to 6:27 pm

Evening Muhurat (Amrita, Chara): 6:27 pm to 9:22 pm

Night Muhurat (Labha)- 12:18 am to 1:45 am, September 13

Chaturdashi Tithi Begins- 5:06 am on September 12, 2019

Chaturdashi Tithi Ends- 7.35 am on September 13.

On the occasion of Ganesh Visarjan programme, more than 40,000 police personnel have been deployed across Mumbai to ensure that the Ganesh idol immersion processions pass off smoothly. Drones will monitor key routes of processions.

In Mumbai, immersion of idols will take place at 129 placesincluding Girgaum Chowpatty, Shivaji Park, Juhu, Aksa, Versova and Marvebeaches of the Arabian Sea.
