Jammu and Kashmir: Five terrorists killed in an encounter

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Samthan Bijbehara area of Anantnag in South Kashmir on Tuesday, police said. Terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area.

"An encounter has started at Semthan, Bijbehara area in Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the spot. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police said in a statement.

Acting on specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in the village, security forces from the Army and police launched an attack. The area has been cordoned off, India Today reported.

On October 10, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Tangpawa village of Kokernag in the Anantnag district.
