Direct flight between eastern Assam town of Dibrugarh and Thailand capital city of Bangkok would be a reality from September 01 next. One of India's most preferred airlines, SpiceJet would operate on the Dibrugarh – Bangkok route from first day of next month.
The geo political situation and many recent developments in South East Asia have made Dibrugarh an important destination. Thailand , predominantly a Buddhist country has always attracts Buddhist population of Northeastern India to the country.
An important commercial hub of both tea and oil , Dibrugarh in eastern Assam would likely to emerge business and trade point between India and South East Asian countries in days to come. The capital city of Thailand is always a favourite destination for tourists from North East India. While Bangkok is at the crossroads of international air transportation, tourists also go about visiting other cities in Thailand including Pattaya and Phuket.
SpiceJet is a low-cost airline in the country and is also the fourth largest airline in the country by number of domestic passengers carried, with a market share of 13.3% as of October 2017.
The airline operates 312 daily flights to 55 destinations, including 47 Indian and 7 international destinations from its hubs at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Seeing a probable profit making air route in days to come, SpiceJet has started the endeavour to fly its flight between Mohanbari airport in Assam's Dibrugarh town and Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) in Bangkok.
