In a major development, Safoora Zargar, a pregnant Jamia Millia University scholar was granted bail in an anti-terror law case in connection to the Delhi riot case earlier this year.

Zargar was granted bail by the Delhi High Court after the Delhi police permitted it on humanitarian grounds.

The Delhi High Court instructed Zargar to not get involved in activities that may hamper the investigation. She will also have to stay in touch with an Investigating Officer over the phone at least once in 15 days. Furthermore, she has to give a personal bond of Rs 10,000 and cannot leave the city.

Zargar was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act over the riots in February that happened during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. She was arrested in April and was granted bail, however, rearrested once again. On Monday, her bail plea was rejected.
