BrazilianPresident Jair Bolsonaro accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation tobe the chief guest at India's Republic Day celebration next year.
Modi,who is in Brazil for the 11th BRICS Summit will focus on buildingmechanisms for counter-terrorism cooperation and strengthen India's ties withthe world's five major economies, met Bolsanaro on the sidelines of the meetingand spoke about diversifying cooperation for the benefit of the people.
The twoleaders held fruitful talks to strengthen bilateral ties.
Accordingto an official statement issued by the PMO said, "PM Modi invited Bolsonaro tothe Republic Day, 2020. The Brazilian President has accepted the invitationwith pleasure."
The statementfurther said that both leaders agreed that on this occasion, the two countriescan comprehensively enhance our strategic partnership.
The statementfurther reads as, "Modi said that he looked forward to discussing mattersrelating to trade. He also outlined areas for potential investment from Brazil,including in areas of agricultural equipment, animal husbandry, post-harvesttechnologies and biofuels."
The BrazilianPresident, however, expressed his readiness and informed PM Modi that a largebusiness delegation will accompany him to India adding that the two leadersalso discussed other areas of cooperation including space and defence sectors.
