Ayodhya Dispute will be solved through mediation: SC

The Supreme Court today has finally given its verdict on the controversial Ram Janmabhoomi dispute or commonly known as Ayodhya dispute. The Apex Court has said that it will be settled through mediation

The three-member mediation committee will be headed by former Supreme Court judge, Justice Ibrahim Khalifulla and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, legal mediator Sriram Panchu will be its member.

The five-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has ordered that the media will be barred from the mediation proceedings. The proceedings will take place in Faizabad.

The dispute started when a 16th century mosque allegedly built by Mughal emperor Babur located at a  2.77 acres of land in Ayodhya,  he birthplace of Lord Ram, had been demolished by Hindu activists in December 1992. The activists strongly believe that the mosque was built on the ruins of an ancient temple.
