With a 48-hour ultimatum to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to fulfil their demands, the medical practitioners at AIIMS, Delhi called off their protest on Saturday, while the doctors of NRS Medical College and Hospital (NRSMCH) still continuing their protest.
Threatened to go for an indefinite strike, the Doctors' association at the AIIMS stated, "We will go for an indefinite strike from June 17, if the demands are not met within 48 hours." However, they are still holding symbolic protest bywearing black badges, helmets and bandits.
Meanwhile, junior doctors of NRSMCH refuse to go to the Secretariat for meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee. They demand that the CM should come to NRS hospital for the meeting.
It may be mentioned here that the IMA had previously called for a protest on Friday, but later in the day asked for the protests to continue over the weekend, and a nationwide withdrawal of non-essential services in all health care institutions on June 17. IMA represents nearly 3,50,000 doctors across the country.
