The Indian Air Force (IAF) transport aircraft with eight crew-members and five passengers, which went missing on Monday after taking off from Assam's Jorhat district, reportedly had met with an accident.
DEVELOPMENT
IAF is coordinating with the Indian Army, various government and civil agencies to locate the missing aircraft. Search operations will continue from the air and by ground parties of Indian Army through the night.
The wreckage of the AN-32 aircraft was located by one of the several helicopters deployed for the search and rescue missions near Tato in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Till the filing of this report the condition of the 13 IAF personnel who were on the ill-fated plane was not known.
It may be mentioned here that the Antonov An-32 took off at 12:25 pm for Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh
The ill-fated AN-32 aircraft, which was flying from Jorhat in Assam to Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground (above) when it lost contact with the ground station near Aalo in Arunachal Pradesh
The plane established last communication with ground forces at 1 pm on Monday.
