Assam celebrates 92nd birth anniversary of Xudhakontho Dr Bhupen Hazarika. A host of cultural programme's are organised across the state today to mark the maestro's birth anniversary.

The numerous events bore testimony to the fact that love and respect for the Jajabor among the people of Assam has only grown with time. Various programme's will be organised at his Samadhi Kshetra at Jalukbari.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Cultural Minister Naba Doley, MP Bijoya Chakravarty and many other dignitaries paid rich tribute to Dr Hazarika at his Samadhi Kshetra.

Adressing his speech, Sarbananda sonowal said, "Bhupen Hazarika was a worshiper of humanity. People as such define an era. The creations of Bhupenda must be preserved. Not just the government bus everyone must come forward to preserve his legacy. We must follow the path showed by Bhupenda".

He also announced the innauguation date of the museum at Samadhi Kshetra on 5th Novmember.

AASU, like every year will organise a  cultural programme 'Uddipana' at his statue place at Dighalipukhuri in remembrance of the maestro. The best singers of colleges and Universities will pay tribute to Dr Bhupen Hazarika singing his songs at the event. A programme have also been organised At Kolkata's Assam Bhawan in remembrance of  Xudhakontho.

A book ' Bhupen Hazarika-As i knew him'  by Kalpana Lajmi on the late singer, poet and lyricist from Assam, also her longtime partner will be launched at Mumbai today.
