Will never support Citizenship Bill: BJP’s Atul Bora
Updated on

Speaking to media persons, BJP's Dispur MLA Atul Bora today once again extended his support against the implementation of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Assam.

Bora said that implementing the bill is a threat to Assam and local indigenous people will have to cry if the bill is implemented. Going against his own party, which is leaving no stones unturned to implement the bill at any cost, Bora said that he will oppose the bill even if he is a part of BJP.

The Bill is a threat to Assamese people and will push Assam's originality and heritage towards extinction as many people are trying to convert Assam into second Bangladesh, the BJP MLA said.

Informing that he wrote a letter to CM Sonowal regarding his concerns, Bora added that he will keep on fighting for this cause irrespective of what the outcome is or what actions his party will take against him. "I am doing this for this for the people of Assam and protect the interest of Assam'" Atul Bora said.

"Durga Puja celebrations in Bangladesh are bigger than Assam and the Hindus there are more happy and satisfied in their own country", he said.

He also informed that he will request the state BJP to take up the issue seriously with the Centre and not implement it to protect the interest of Assam and its people.
