After addressing the mass rally in Mangaldoi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Silchar on Thursday afternoon to blow the poll bugle for ongoing General elections.
Addressing a crowd of supporters, the Prime Minister said that "We are committed to implementing Citizen Amendment Bill. But we will consult with the all the communities of the society".

On the other hand, reacting to Modi's election rallies in the state, veteran Congress leader-cum-former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi has alleged that Modi's visit to the state for campaigning on polling day is a violation of the model code of conduct (MCC).
