Senior advocate Upamanyu Hazarika filed his nomination papers for the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday. Hazarika submitted his nomination papers to the returning officer, Kamal Kumar Baishya.
After filing his nominations as an independent candidate, the senior advocate said, "As Congress-BJP do not care about the problems of Assam, I want to work for the indigenous people of the State."
Apart from Hazarika, Junmoni Devi Khaund also filed her nominations as an independent candidate for the LS seat on Wednesday. Interestingly, she rode on a horse on her way to file the nominations.
Notably, Upamanyu Hazarika and Junmoni Devi Khaund will be contesting against Congress' Bobbeeta Sharma and BJP's Queen Ojha.
