It was a harmony meet to strengthen the relation between two communities.

"The Bill has created conflict between Assamese and Bengali. It is a planned conspiracy to break the unity among us (Assamese and Bengali)." said writer Raktim Swami.

"Even who are supporting the Bill, don't know what is going on. If situation compels us we are ready to go door to door to create awareness regarding the Bill. We strongly opposed the Bill" – he added.

Notably, a huge number of local organizations of the state and the local masses were opposing this mass rally called on by the Bengali organizations. Various organisations and individuals like Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, Ulfa and former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and many others are showing huge protest against the Bengali gathering.

The Bengali speaking Assamese community has tried to maintain an environment of peace and harmony with the native Assamese people.
