The midday meal cook association has called for a bandh in the Udalguri district and staged a protest by blocking the National Highway against the NGOs that have been handed over the responsibility of distributing midday meals in the schools.

The workers of midday meal have continued their protests against the government's decision of handing over the responsibility of the midday meal scheme to the NGO. The workers in the Udalguri district have called for a bandh in the district and observed road blockade from 5 am to 7:30 am on Monday.

Following theprotests, police arrested a section of protestors for violating laws.

Another section of protestors has protested in front of the Parash Agro Society office that has been given the responsibility of distributing midday meal.

It may be mentioned that although the government assured that the workers will not be hampered in their payment, the protestors continued their protest demanding to withdraw the decision of handing over the responsibility of the midday meal scheme to the NGOs.

Meanwhile, it was seen on the first day of the distribution of meals that the NGOs have supplied poor quality foods to the students for which the parents, teachers, and students protested over it saying that they will not accept such poor quality foods and that the quantity of foods are also less which cannot even feed 10 students.
