Following the sudden outbreak of malaria and vector-borne diseases in villages located in the corner of Tripura-Mizoram-Bangladesh border, the Tripura government has decided to extend emergency medical care there.

As many as 27 cases have been reported to various health clinics in Bhandarima, Shantipur, and Gachhirampara of Kanchanpur under North Tripura district and another 34 people have detected Plasmodium Falciparum (PF) malaria in six villages of the area where ASHA worker have been working.

It may be mentioned here that malaria and other vector-borne diseases in hilly parts of Tripura have been a common phenomenon in the last few years, however, the timely intervention of the state health department has prevented the situation from worsening.
